Sept 12th
Fall routines and long sleeves.
We've made it through all of the back to school excitement and we're starting to find a rhythm. Sports and theatre, weekend adventures and homework. Crisp mornings and long walks. Holiday planning and lots of printing.
Jonathan and I celebrated 20 years of marriage and snuck away to Vancouver, BC for just long enough to feel restored. We ate amazing ramen, wandered art galleries and water taxied through the bay. I'm ever-grateful for this partnership, a decision made young that was far from guaranteed. As I tell my kids, the partner you choose has the largest impact on your life- find someone kind, who you laugh with, navigate dark waters alongside, and who wants to see you shine.
The shop is filled with new arrivals including the cutest ceramic earring studs! These are made in Canada and it's unclear if we will be able to restock due to the current global landscape. If you love them grab them now!
The newest batch of raglans is here! We have these in heather purple with the Tree Vol. 2 in navy, white with navy blue Mountain View, and navy blue with our Daisy. This style is a fan-favorite and always sought after.
We've been making room for artistic experiments this year. There's a new batch of art debuting Sunday in the shop. Come downtown for Valley Made Market & be sure to walk the shop and see what's new.
Sunday is the last outdoor Valley Made Market of 2025! Come through for live music & community. Treat yourself to something indie made and stash some holiday gifts and get ahead of the stress. I LOVE it when I plan ahead and have some of my gifts ready to go.
It's been another wild week in the USA. I've found myself a much calmer version in comparison to 2017. We've all been through a lot since then and, for better or worse, I'm a little less reactive these days. I'm staying hopeful even when that feels delusional. Because what are we going to do? Quit? We're not quitters, and we don't have to be governed like this. We need to vote and be engaged. We also need to stay whole, find joy, and galvanize community.
I attended a neighborhood block party last week and it was amazing. Organized by some delightful folks one street over- they've planned it for several years now and it's become a whole vibe. It's a potluck, a time to chat and for kids to play. It's community in action and I'm already looking forward to next year's event.
Sunday's Valley Made Market is another example of community. If you're feeling pessimistic about the world I encourage you to come out and wander the market. It will always amaze me to be around 50 people carving out their own path in the world. Whether they are hobby flower growers or full time jewelers it takes guts and moxie to be in business (now more than ever). Come to market and get inspired, share conversation, feel the energy of live music, forget about the dark stuff and live in the light. As much as possible we need community and joy as resistance. We can support what we want to see in the world one action at a time.
With heart,
Phoebe
