Behind the Scenes at elSage: Monoprints, Shibori Dyeing and Handmade Business Cards

We're in a season of creation and experimentation around these parts. Jonathan has been working with color and open screens to create original mono prints that are abstract and absolutely stunning. We have a collection of framed and unframed work available in the shop now.

This week I worked through a little creative block by making shop business cards in the slowest manner possible 😜 They are unique, hand printed little pieces of art and we would love to gift you one on your next trip through the shop. Check them out up by the register.

Shibori dyeing has long been on my list of curiosities. Earlier this month I jumped into making a dye vat and creating a first collection of bandanas and tea towels. I am planning to print on top of the dye and release these in the next week or so. They are all unique pieces. My shibori journey involved making a keepsake for my nieces and nephews. Above you can see me printing a collaboration design created with our youngest son. We printed each kid a bandana and they had the chance to indigo dye them at our gathering.

As technology continues to be more and more a part of our daily lives I am leaning into the analog parts of life and art. I'm thinking more about the imperfection of human things and the power of real life time together. I hope you are finding ways to theoretically and literally "touch grass". These are wild times we're living through and I think community and creativity are two shining stars in the darkness.
